• The Head Start Difference! Tour

  As a former Head Start student and former President of The Virginia Head Start Association Doc Brown is quite familiar with the "ins and outs" of Head Start.  Nowadays as a master teacher and child/family psychologist, Doc Brown tours Head Start programs to enhance and support the Head Start Workforce and Consistent Quality Programming.  His ultimate aim is consistent with that of the program which gave him his aptitude for learning which is to increase school readiness for children from lower-income families and backgrounds.

  This tour will promote evidence-based strategies for Head Start and Early Head Start programs to:

  1.  Provide quality comprehensive, interdisciplinary programs to foster infant and toddler development and remedy any developmental concerns.

  2. Support, Empower, and Engage Parents to be the primary educators of their children.

  3. Make community care a visible part of Head Start's vision and climate.

  4.  Support Workforce agency and well-being.

  5.  Encourage and support collective teacher efficacy. 

• Help For The Helpers! Ensuring Mentally & Emotionally Healthy Healthcare Workers Tour

  Dr. Adolph “Doc” Brown fully understands and effectively addresses the mental health needs of healthcare workers. As a former project manager for Sentara Hospitals, the crisis team supervisor for First Hospital Corporation, and a trained Critical Incident Stress Debriefer, Doc Brown has first hand knowledge of the stressors of the professional as well the appropriate protective factors required to best function in these environments.

  The COVID-19 outbreak further intensified the already existing feelings of exhaustion, pressure, tension, sorrow, and anguish among healthcare professionals. Numerous healthcare workers found themselves burdened with heavier workloads due to a shortage of staff and a lack of essential personal protective equipment. Consequently, their anxiety levels skyrocketed, and they faced an increased risk of harm to themselves. Disturbingly, certain healthcare workers exhibited symptoms resembling post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of their experiences during the pandemic. Additionally, some individuals continued to suffer from lingering symptoms after contracting COVID-19 personally.

  This tour will address:

• Doc Brown Student Success Tour “If it is to be, it’s up to me!”
  Doc Brown takes young people on a journey of taking total responsibility for their own success.  Doc teaches youth that everyone who truly succeeds develops the attitude of a leader and becomes a winner.

• The “Inspire or Retire” Collective Teacher Efficacy Tour

  When teams of educators believe they have the ability to make a positive difference in their lives of students, great things can happen in a school.  Doc Brown empowers and inspires teams of educators to share the belief that through their unified efforts they can overcome challenges and produce intended results, where they as a team are more effective.

  The power and promise of collective efficacy is that it can be promoted and supported within schools, so focusing on it with a growth mindset is a wonderful resource to greater student achievement, stronger commitment to learning, and a more inclusive and safe place to come and learn.
