Mooney will be joined by fellow keynote speakers Adolph “Doc” Brown and Richard Pimentel. Both are nationally recognized in their own right, and their symposium addresses will be born largely from having also experienced the stigmas associated with mental health and learning disabilities. If there is a common theme embraced by all three speakers, it’s this: Rigidity is the enemy in the classroom, in the workplace, in attitudes and treatment, sometimes even from within a family.

May 10, 2008 The Violence Project - “Speaking Rhetoric”

If there was one person at the town hall who brought this point home, it was teacher and lecturer Dr. Adolph Brown, III. Brown walked around the room until the very end disguised as the stereotypical young male many are used to envisioning: doo-rag and baggy clothes. Brown encountered only stern looks and silence from most of those in attendance, not an ounce of outreach or gratefulness for this disguised young person making the effort to attend this forum...

Clayton County Public Schools - March 08
March 4, 2008 Clayton County Public Schools, The Daily View -
Babb Middle Rocks the House with Character

Babb Middle School students yesterday heard Dr. Adolph Brown III discuss the quality characteristics that make life harmonious - such as positive attitudes, cooperation, sportsmanship, fairness, school pride, and thankfulness - and then they heard the noted motivational speaker utter and do something quite unexpected and seemingly out of character: "I can dance," he shouted, and immediately began to "Bust a Move" on the gymnasium floor. His actions demonstrated that you can do fun stuff and still be a model citizen.
He had been invited by Character Education Coordinator Lillian Mitchell to promote the topic after she heard him speak twice before at other education meetings. "The things he shared were the things that we are teaching our students such as respect yourself, stay in school, make good choices, be better not bitter, and don't be a thug," she said.

Adolph Brown, the nationally known speaker who pulled the costume change, told the youths that it took him a while to stop being angry at the world after his father abandoned his family. "I'm tired of seeing the guy whose mom still picks him up from school, and he thinks he's a thug," Brown said, telling the boys to pull up their pants and sit up straight. Brown ranted against basketball star Kobe Bryant, who was caught cheating on his wife, and hip-hop lyrics that glorify failure (like "Can't pay my rent/Cause all my money's spent"). April ‘07 Indiana Student Education Newsletter - Midwest Conference

Waking up on Saturday January 20th , eight Indiana Student Program members did
not know what they would learn and encounter that day. On their way to listen to
the speaker that afternoon they noticed a man outside the ballroom with baggy gangster looking clothing on. He looked different from the rest of the people who were attending. To their surprise he ended up being the speaker that they would soon listen to. His name was Dr. Adolph Brown, a clinical psychologist. He said many profound statements, the students were vigorously writing down. The
most favorite quote from Dr. Brown was, “No child with a behind left because we are testing it off.” Dr. Brown persuaded the audience about how important relationships are with your students plus the attitude and approach teachers use. While he informed the crowd about the three F’s of public education which are Fair, Firm, and Fun he also used his seven children as an example. Our students were
thrilled and energized after hearing his speech.

Feb. ‘07

I wanted to understand the “major zing” that many purport that Dr. Brown has to his presentations. First and foremost, he informed me that he prefers to be called his name ‘Adolph’ and the title” doctor” was what he does. As a young person, Adolph could have easily been described as a bright underachiever, at-risk, or experientially deprived. He has always desired to help people that were hurting. He has a life dedicated to learning knowledge and to the spread of knowledge.

A cute small town boy with infectious joy, Adolph paid his dues to become a polished smooth professional from the projects, divorce and tragedy to make a comeback.

Adolph stands up to scrutiny although many opposites reside within him. He's at once self-deprecating, confident, and eminently affable. He is a prime example of how the worst events in life can bring out the best of someone. Adolph has worked hard and shunned the political spotlight. He is leaving a legacy of hope, faith, and healing across the globe.

I experienced first hand Adolph’s rare talent to help those around him achieve more than they ever thought possible. His pure messages can motivate and inspire ALL. I have come to the conclusion that when selecting a speaker for your audience, second best is not an option. The speaking profession is truly reserved for just a few.

Of all the things Adolph does, he can be simply classified as a self-improvement and relationship expert. Although he clearly avoids labels and titles, he basically describes his efforts as helping others discover their human potential through positive self-think, positive self-talk, and a positive self-walk or action.

When asked about the pace he must maintain with so many different avenues to positively affect change, Adolph replied "I dislike my life disrupted by routine and when I do become tired — I recognize that it is a small price to pay for a full life." It is obvious that Adolph is passionately committed to being a positive change agent in our world. His messages will certainly endure as he states "My creativity is inspired daily by my family." This interview was more than motivational—it was transforming.
